Lunch Program: Transplants for Children - David Davenport '88, Executive Director

Presentation Summary:

You will be inspired by the personal story of David Davenport '88, who recently joined the local non-profit Transplants for Children as Executive Director in June of 2018. David, a transplant recipient himself, will share his passion for this organization's mission of empowering families to master lifelong challenges of pediatric transplantation. This Monday Lunch also happens to coincide with the beginning of Donate Life's National DMV Appreciation Week from September 24 - 28. Attendees will be reminded how easy it is to join the Donate Life registry and make the personal decision to give the second chance of a lifetime.

Speaker Bio:

David Davenport is a nationally recognized leader in social enterprise, organizational and fund development. He is a proven visionary who translates organizational goals into concrete strategies. In June of this year he followed his heart to serving as the Executive Director of Transplants for Children, a local non-profit assisting and empowering families to navigate, manage, and master lifelong challenges of pediatric transplantation. As the recipient of a bi-lateral lung transplant, David sees his role with Transplants for Children as much more than a job.

David previously served as the Director of Estate and Gift Planning for the San Antonio Area Foundation, President and CEO of All One Sky Foundation established by the former C3 (Climate Change Central), President and CEO Capital Area Food Bank, CEO End Hunger Network, Chief Development Officer Boys and Girls Harbour, and Program and Executive Director of the YMCA USA - Houston/Fort Worth Region.

He is a prior board member of the City of Austin/Travis County Sustainable Food Policy Board, and currently serves on the Texas A&M University Department of Political Science Former Students Advisory Board.

He earned a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and Government from Texas A&M in 1988 and is currently a graduate student at the Texas A&M University School of Law.
