Lunch Program: Amy Wise - Chairman of San Antonio Rodeo Scholarship Committee & Chairman of Ranch Rodeo Committee

amy-wiseAmy Wise is proud to be a local San Antonio, Texas girl.  A graduate from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, she obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry.  However, fate took a turn and challenged her to pursue a career in public accounting with Ernst & Young.  There, she was encouraged to go back to school and ultimately obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in Accounting from the University of Texas San Antonio.

While working at Ernst & Young, Amy and her husband, Bill, were invited by a coworker to be pie judges for the Bar-B-Que Committee.  Loving the camaraderie and community support displayed by the Committee, they were excited to become official San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo volunteers in 2000.  Always driven to achieve more, Amy and Bill, became Bar-B-Que Steering Members and were proud to achieve their Life Member status in 2002.  During this time, they also served as members of the San Antonio Corral Club.  In 2012, Amy was invited to become a member of the Ranch Rodeo Committee, which has proven to be one of the highlights of her work with the Stock Show.

Amy has felt very honored to join the ranks of other Outstanding Volunteers and Outstanding Committeemen.  She represented the Bar-B-Que Committee in the Hall of Fame during both the 2002-2003 and 2005-2006 rodeo seasons.  She was also privileged to represent the Ranch Rodeo Committee as Outstanding Committeemen during the 2013-2014 season.  Additionally, Amy was elected as a Director in 2009 and served as the San Antonio Corral Club President from 2011-2012.

Amy’s first and greatest love will always remain her family.  Bill and Amy have been married for over twenty years and have two beautiful children, Brackan and Braylee.  She left her job in public accounting several years ago to become a fulltime wife and mother.  Her family shows unbelievable flexibility and support for her desire to be a volunteer during the Show and other volunteer endeavors.  Amy loves the lessons that being a devoted volunteer teaches her children.

Outside the rodeo, Amy enjoys being classroom copy mom at her children’s schools and has previously served as Secretary of the Board for Universal City United Methodist Preschool.  During this time, she organized the silent auctions for the school’s various fundraisers.  Recently, Amy has added Lions Club Team Manager to her volunteer resume for her son’s soccer team.

Amy currently serves as Ranch Rodeo Committee Chairman, Scholarship Committee Chairman, Bar-B-Que Committee Member and Nominating Committee Member.  She feels very fortunate to be a member of the Rodeo family.  She never imagined that volunteering could teach her so much about herself and what it means to be a part of something larger.  She has great appreciation for the time and effort of every volunteer and is touched by the level of each person’s character.  Working with such exceptional people makes her just as happy as the community she serves.
