The
San Antonio Corps Leadership Outreach
"The
Alamo Brigade"
The San Antonio Corps Leadership Outreach, Inc. (SACLO) is an
integral part of the Texas Aggie Corps of Cadets recruiting effort headed by the
Commandant's Office at Texas A&M University. SACLO is an all-volunteer
organization and has no paid employees. It is headed by a Regional Coordinator
who supervises the solicitation and expenditure of funds and who is responsible
for coordinating the activities of approximately 30 volunteer Aggie Corps
Recruiters (ACR.) Officially, SACLO comprises Region 20 of the Texas Aggie Corps
Recruiters. To reflect its San Antonio area heritage, SACLO is also known as
"THE ALAMO BRIGADE."
SACLO is incorporated under the Texas Non-Profit Corporation Act
for charitable and educational purposes. Under its Articles of Incorporation,
the primary objective of SACLO is coordination and execution of activities
designed to recruit high school students to join the Texas A&M Corp of
Cadets. All assets of the corporation are pledged for its charitable functions.
Thus, donations to SACLO may be tax deductible.
In 1999, SACLO created THE
HARD CORPS 100 as a fund raising effort. Specifically, South Texas
Aggies were asked to join THE HARD
CORPS 100 by pledging $100
annually to support Region 20 recruiting efforts. The response has been
wonderful and predictable. Largely due to THE
HARD CORPS 100, SACLO has been recognized as the premier Corps
Recruiting Region within the State of Texas.
The Corps of Cadets remains the backbone of Texas A&M
University. The Corps is the Keeper of the Spirit and the Guardian of
Tradition and the major provider of student leadership throughout the
University. Members of the Corps continue to post higher average grades and
better graduation rates than the A&M student body as a whole. However, many
high school students are not aware that a Cadet Corps even exists at Texas
A&M. Many others are not aware of Corps Scholarship opportunities,
application procedures or the many benefits of being in the Corps - Academics,
Leadership, Discipline, Esprit, and Loyalty.
ACRs are former cadets responsible for the hands on recruiting
duties. There are over 100 high schools within Region 20. Only about 50 of these
schools currently have an active ACR. Obviously, this effort should be expanded
and improved. Former members of the Aggie Corps of Cadets have to lead the
effort. Your money is needed, but YOU are needed to tell the story of your Corps
Experience - not only you salty, "Old Army" types, but you younger
guys and ladies who gained so much from participation in the Texas Aggie Corps
of Cadets.

THE
FUTURE LEADERS OF TEXAS ARE IN
THE
CORPS OF CADETS TODAY!!
The
Hard Corps 100 still needs your help!!!
The San Antonio Corps Leadership Outreach (CLO) is an integral
part of the Aggie Corps of Cadets recruiting effort headed by the Commandant's
Office at Texas A&M. Beginning
in 1999, San Antonio CLO has asked South Texas Aggies to join THE HARD CORPS 100 by pledging $100 annually to support South
Texas recruiting efforts. The response has been wonderful and predictable.
Largely due to THE HARD CORPS 100, the
San Antonio CLO has been recognized as the premier Corps Recruiting Region
within the State of Texas.
The San Antonio CLO consists of a Regional Coordinator and
approximately 30 volunteer Aggie Corps Recruiters (ACR) who are charged with the
hands on recruiting duties. There are well over 100 high schools in the South
Texas area. Unfortunately, only about 50 of these schools currently have an
active ACR. We need to expand and improve this effort so that all area high
schools have an assigned and active ACR. We need your money, but we also need
YOU to tell the story of your Corps Experience - not only you salty, "Old
Army" types, but you younger guys and ladies who participated in our Cadet
Corps.
The Corps of Cadets remains below 2000 total members and we are a
long way from our goal of taking back the Quad. However, the Corps of Cadets
remains the backbone of Texas A&M University. The Corps is still the Keeper
of the Spirit, The Guardian of Tradition and the major provider of
student leadership throughout the University. To insure that the Corps continues
to be a robust and viable fixture at Texas A&M, we, the former members of
the Aggie Corps of Cadets, must continue to lead the recruiting effort.
It is time to renew those annual pledges to THE HARD CORPS 100. We are sending this solicitation to all
members of the Texas Aggie Corps of Cadets Association that live in the San
Antonio and South Texas Area. We ask that you continue to honor your pledge and
sincerely request that more South Texas Aggies make an initial pledge and/or
volunteer to join in the recruiting effort.
Enclosed are a donation card and a return envelope for your
convenience. Please renew your pledge and/or join THE HARD CORPS 100 by sending in the card with your $100
donation. Better yet, send your donation AND make a commitment to become an
Aggie Corps Recruiter for the San Antonio Corps Leadership Outreach. We must
take action now, Old Army. OR, we watch Texas A&M become just another cookie
pusher school.
