About the Speaker

Jamie Morrison was named head volleyball coach at Texas A&M University on December 16, 2022.

During his debut season in Aggieland, he led the squad to a 16-12 regular season record, including an 8-10 finish in conference play. The 16 wins were the highest total in the past four seasons, while the eight conference victories are the most since the 2020 season. Morrison also guided the program to its first NCAA Tournament birth since 2019, and 26th appearance in its history. The Maroon & White picked up a plethora of notable wins during the season, with six victories coming against 2023 NCAA Tournament teams including, Omaha, Pepperdine, Wright State, Utah State, UNI and Florida. In the match versus the Gators, Morrison led his team into Gainesville and downed then No. 4 Florida for the first time on the road in program history.

In the summer before the 2023 campaign, Morrison led the USA women’s U19 team to a gold medal at the 2023 FIVB World Championships. Morrison helped guide the U19 teams to another gold medal showing at the 2021 FIVB World Championships and bronze at the 2022 FIVB World Championships. Prior to his time with A&M, Morrison was a part of three United States Olympic medal winning squads, as he won gold with the men’s team in Beijing (2008), then silver and bronze with the women’s teams in London (2012) and Rio (2016), respectively. International volleyball remained a love of Morrison’s, as he traveled to the Netherlands and served a three-year stint coaching the women’s national team. During his time with the Dutch squad, he led them to a silver medal finish at the 2017 European Championships and a fourth place result at the 2018 World Championships.

He served collegiate coaching stints at Texas (2020-2021), UC Irvine (2012-13), Concordia [Calif.] (2006-08), USC (2004-05) and UC Santa Barbara (1999-2003) and helped lead three of those teams to the national semifinals or finals. Developing the professional game was a passion for Morrison, as he was the Director of Sports Performance for League One Volleyball, a professional league slated to start in 2024. Morrison graduated from UC Santa Barbara with a degree in business economics in 2002. He and his partner, Kim, have a daughter named Andi.
