Trisha Ford was born and raised in Fremont California. She attended American High School earning nine varsity letters in softball, volleyball, and basketball. Ford graduated from Saint Mary's College of California in 1999 with a bachelor's degree in political science. During her time at Saint Mary's, she played as an infielder on the Gaels softball team from 1998 to 2000 under head coach Chelle Putzer.

Ford began her coaching career at Saint Mary's in 2001 as the hitting coach and recruiting coordinator. She later became the interim head coach in November 2001 and was promoted to the position permanently in June 2002.

From 2004 to 2012, Ford served as an assistant coach at Stanford University under John Rittman. Following her tenure at Stanford, she took over as the head coach of the Fresno State softball program in 2013, leading the Bulldogs for four seasons.

In 2017, Ford was named the head coach of the Arizona State softball program. During her time with the Sun Devils, she achieved notable success, including a Women's College World Series appearance in 2018.

On June 7, 2022, it was announced that Ford would be taking on the role of head coach for the Texas A&M softball program. Under her leadership, the Aggies had a 35-21 record in her debut season.

Over her career as head coach Ford has amassed an impressive record of 397-226-1 (.686 winning percentage) at Saint Mary's, Fresno State, and Arizona State. In addition to an outstanding 212-89 (.704) record with the Sun Devils. Ford's remarkable coaching abilities have earned her the esteemed titles of Mountain West Coach of the Year in 2015 and 2016, as well as Pac-12 Coach of the Year in 2018 and 2022.

Ford and her husband have been married since the summer of 2005 and have been blessed with two children Emma and Ej.
