About the Speaker

Herbert E. Pounds graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in accounting in 1965. He then obtained his law degree from the University of Texas School of Law in 1973. After graduating from Texas A&M, Herb served in the United States Air Force, flying over 220 combat missions as a forward air controller pilot of an OV-10 aircraft in Laos and Cambodia. Following law school, he primarily worked in the banking industry, eventually becoming president of a national bank. Since 1987, Herb has been an attorney in private practice, specializing in banking, real estate, bankruptcy, probate, estate planning, and business litigation. Recently, much of his practice has focused on securities fraud, broker misconduct, brokerage disputes, FINRA arbitration, mediation, and investor loss recovery. Herb is married and has one son, one daughter, five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. His hobbies include football officiating and golf.

Herb will be presenting a tribute to the extraordinary bravery of the men who risked it all to rescue two downed pilots in the heart of a 'so-called' secret war in Laos during the Vietnam War. This doc-short was inspired by author Bob Franklin's dedication to completing the narrative of the search and rescue mission titled "Leave No Man Behind," stemming from his involvement in the operation. Despite challenges in contacting key players, including Air Force pilots, the story evolved to highlight the bravery of both Marine and Air Force pilots, which was later published in the A-4 Skyhawk Association Journal.

Aggie Alumni Herb Pounds' unexpected involvement, spurred by a 'Wanted' ad in the FAC Association Newsletter, not only brought Bob's article to life but also brought this documentary short to life as well.
