About the Speaker

Cheryl Jewell started volunteering for the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo in 2018 with her husband Tom. Cheryl first became a volunteer with the BBQ Cook-Off Committee in the judging tent. After meeting a wonderful group of volunteers with the Ambassador Committee at one of the BBQ Cook Offs, she and her husband decided to become volunteers for the Ambassador Committee in 2021. She continues to serve on both committees and truly enjoys volunteering. Cheryl is passionate about the valuable learning experiences the rodeo offers to our youth, the future leaders of tomorrow. She enjoys meeting youth in the surrounding counties while they show their animals at county shows and loves learning about their experiences.

Monday Lunch

Cheryl is a retired Army Colonel who joined the military in 1976 as part of the Women’s Army Corps in the Minnesota Army National Guard. In October 1978 all women were transitioned into the Army and continued to serve 11 years as an enlisted soldier and 30 years as an Officer for a total of 41 years (14 years in the Reserves and 27 years on active duty at various duty stations). She is a Veteran of Desert Storm, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation New Dawn.

Monday Lunch

Although a Minnesota native, she fell in love with San Antonio while stationed at Ft. Sam Houston in 2004 and vowed to retire here someday…and that is exactly what she did in 2017. Cheryl holds a bachelor's degree in education and a master's degree in Professional Counseling and is a certified Trauma Sensitive Yoga Instructor.

Monday Lunch

Cheryl enjoys time with her family which includes 4 grown children and 11 grandchildren. She loves traveling with her husband and has her wood shop where she loves making cutting and charcuterie boards, and a variety of other projects for her family.
