About the Speaker

Lauren Hickey-Garcia joined the 12th Man Foundation in December of 2018 and currently serves as the Assistant Vice President of Major Gifts. The Major Gift team is responsible for fundraising initiatives surrounding capital projects, scholarship endowments, and planned giving. Hickey-Garcia also serves as a liaison for the Texas A&M Women’s Basketball team, Men’s & Women’s Tennis teams, Men’s & Women’s Track & Field, and Men’s & Women’s Swimming & Diving. Hickey-Garcia started her career in high school coaching and teaching in San Antonio and then transitioned to college athletics in 2016.

Over her athletic tenure she has served as an academic advisor/Director of Student-Athlete Engagement at UTRGV. While at UTRGV she built and launched Champions Leadership Academy a progressive four-year student-athlete leadership life-skills program. Born in College Station, Texas, Hickey-Garcia grew up in the walls of Texas A&M Athletics. Her parents, Lynn Hickey and Bill Hickey, served as coaches/administrators at Texas A&M University from 1984 -1999. She is married to Carlos Garcia who serves as Director of Aquatics at Texas A&M Recreation.
